Senior Java Developer
Build and modernise services for enterprise clients, with real ownership of what you ship.
The role
You will work on a small delivery team, close to the client, building and modernising Java services that carry real business load. Most of our work is on existing estates rather than greenfield, so you will spend as much time understanding a system as writing new code.
What you will do
- Design and build Spring Boot services and REST APIs against agreed scope
- Modernise older Java applications – upgrades, replatforming, breaking apart monoliths where it genuinely helps
- Write the tests, the runbook and the handover notes, not just the feature
- Work directly with client technical leads in demos and design sessions
What we are looking for
- Five or more years building production Java, currently working in Java 11 or later
- Solid Spring Boot, JPA or Hibernate, and relational database design
- Comfortable deploying to cloud, ideally AWS, through a CI pipeline
- Able to explain a technical trade-off to someone non-technical
Nice to have
- Integration platform experience – MuleSoft, Boomi, IBM ACE or similar
- Kafka or other event streaming
- Prior consulting or client-facing delivery experience
